Do you ever forget anything? I sure do. Today it was some things I left at my niece’s house-who lives 30 miles from mine. I’ve also went into the kitchen to get something and I can’t remember why I went in there. (Actually, that works out just fine, since there’s snacks in there.) I even try to write myself notes so I don’t forget. I’ll place a sticky note right on the door if I have something specific I need to take with me. However, sometimes that’s a problem if I forget to write the note that’s supposed to remind me. I sure wish I didn’t have those moments of forgetfulness.
Here’s good news-God doesn’t have that problem at all. He doesn’t have to put a note on the door to Heaven that says, “Don’t forget…” Even on those dark nights of pain, in circumstances that cause confusion, or in a never-ending trial, God remembers his promises. “The Lord always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does. The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads. (Psalm 145:13-14 NLT ) He remembers to care for us. When life comes at us hard, we can count on God’s faithfulness. “The Lord is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O Lord, do not abandon those who search for you.” (Psalm 9:10) Don’t forget that God promises to give us peace. He doesn’t want stress, anxiety, or fear to be in any part of our day. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray abut everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.” (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT) , Let’s commit this to memory: God is faithful.
Thought to ponder: What are some of God’s other promises?
