Keep Looking Up

gold-candleI believe in angels.  One of the reasons I believe is related to the car  accident I had about 8 years ago.  Most of that night remains a blur;  I didn’t hear the sirens of the ambulance, the State Highway Patrol, or the sheriff’s car that arrived at the scene.  But there are 3 comments I distinctly remember.  From the patrol officer on duty, “I can’t believe I am getting to talk to you.  We always get called out for fatalities on that road.”  The Emergency Room doctor said, “You must have someone watching over you.”  Lastly, the EMT driving the ambulance, “You must have angels watching over you.” Psalm 91:11-12 agrees, “For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways;  they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”

There is comfort in knowing God is watching over us.  Psalm 121:8, “The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever.” It’s easy to get overwhelmed when we look at the world and the many problems in it.  But we don’t have to spend one minute worrying, being fearful, or in distress.  “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Don’t be afraid.  I’ll help you.'”  We can shift our perspective and look at life from a higher angle.  Psalm 121:1, “I will lift up my eyes to the  hills, from where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord,  who made heaven and earth.”  Don’t walk through your life being downcast; stay focused on things above.  Trust me, the view is always better when you’re looking up.

  1. God always protects us in the way we need it. I’m so glad His angels watched over you that night and continue to be there for us both.

        1. I sure do remember you coming! Here’s the neat thing-I think God gives us people in our lives to represent angels too. So thankful for good friends!
