Blanket Protection

Findley State Park“Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s Superwoman!”  This is what I’m sure people are saying about me when I ride on the bike trail.  (I have no actual data to support this claim. My moderate speed also indicates people may be thinking I am taking a leisurely bike ride.  But you never know…) On the trail, you will see dog walkers, joggers, and a variety of serious to leisurely bikers.  Tonight while I was riding I came upon an elderly couple walking slowing and gingerly along the path.  As I drew near them I said, “I am passing on your left.” The gentleman immediately grabbed his wife’s hand and stepped between her and my bike.  There was something about that instant act of protection that moved me.  He didn’t hesitate, and in that perfect moment, the older man became her bodyguard.

Don’t we all wish we had someone to watch over us when we’re walking on this journey called life?  Here’s the good news: we do.  Isaiah 41:3, “For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”  You’re not on this road alone, so even if the path is rocky and difficult, even if the storms of life try to slow you down, you can keep going.  Unexpected hazards are not going to stop you, because you have an unstoppable God who will shield and protect you all the days of your life.  Here’s your guarantee: “The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” (Psalm 121:8) So rest easy and keep walking forward,  because you have blanket protection: God covers it all.

    1. Good to know in case I ever have to brief a general. Or someone with a higher ‘rank’ than me, (so basically anyone). 🙂
