A Bright Day is Coming

My family is camping near Lake Erie and we’re hoping for a bright and sunny day today.  After raining all day yesterday, it looked like today would follow suit.  The skies were overcast in the morning.  There was a light drizzle and absolutely no sun to see in the early morning hours.  We were wondering what we would do inside all day trying to entertain family from 3 years old to age 76.  But midmorning changed our thinking completely.  The sun began to burn away the clouds and by afternoon we had a full sky of sunshine and plenty of fun activities on tap.  It’s amazing how one moment in time can change everything.

Our lives can seem a bit dismal and dreary at times, but God is planning for a brighter day.  He wants to fill us with joy.  “You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” (Psalm 16:11) God breaks through the clouds that seem to hang over us.  “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.”  (Psalm 94:19)  He doesn’t want us to walk through our days with our heads down, He wants us to be happy.  “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”  (John 15:11) Let’s look for the break in the clouds, and rest assured that a bright day is coming.  After all, Jesus said, “I came so that you could have life-indeed, so that you could live life to the fullest.”  (John 10:10) We can stop focusing on the clouds that try to cover our days, and instead, look towards the sun.  After all, with God at the center of our lives, we are guaranteed a bright day is coming.
