Sometimes it seems like everyone I know is fighting a battle. Most of the battles are fierce, knock-down, and drawn-out fights. I have a friend who is battling a rare form of cancer, one who is caring for an ailing mother, and another one who is grieving the loss of a parent. Unfortunately, there are so many others who are stressed in one way or another. Within these struggles, we can feel lonely; no one really understands our heartache, our worry, our pain. Sometimes we feel like we are standing alone on the battlefield and the enemy before us is too big. That’s simply not true. We are never going into any battle alone. Ever.
Let this sink deeply into all the tired, afraid, and weary places in your thinking: you are never alone. God is always with you. “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39) He loves you so much. God is never going to leave you alone in a fight. Deuteronomy 31:6, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you or forsake you.” When life is coming at you with no end in sight, don’t ever feel you have to face it on your own. Here’s the truth: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1) What does the phrase ‘The odds are stacked in your favor’ mean? Simply put: The Creator of the Universe is on your side.
